About Project SEARCHTM at the University of Rochester Medical Center


Project SEARCHTM at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) was launched in September 2009. The project operates in partnership between Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, Arc of Monroe, ACCES-VR, Finger Lakes DDSO, and is coordinated by the Institute for Innovative Transition.

Program Statistics:


Since 2009, 26 students have graduated from Project SEARCHTM at URMC, with 20 students (77%) successfully transitioning into competitive employment upon program completion. Twelve graduates of the program have been hired at URMC as a direct result of their internship placements.


A typical day at Project SEARCHTM at URMC:

 

 

7:45am Students arrive at URMC
7:45–8:45am Morning instruction
8:45am Students depart for internships
9am-1:30pm Internships (30 minutes for lunch)
1:30pm Students return to classroom
1:45-2:15pm Afternoon instruction, journaling, problem solving
