The Transition Leadership Council is a group of young adults with disabilities that advises the Institute for Innovative Transition on future projects and initiatives. The group participates in discussions and provides input for the Institute. Based on their lived experiences and knowledge of transition, the group reflects and advocates on changes to the programs and systems that serve them. The goal of the council is to provide a space for young adults to influence transition practices in Monroe County.


Objectives of the council are:

  • Acquire knowledge about the Institute for Innovative Transition
  • Reflect on progress of initiatives
  • Discuss concerns related to the transition process
  • Advocate for changes to programs and systems
  • Continue to develop leadership skills
