Bridge to Earning, Learning, and Living
In fall 2010, the Institute for Innovative Transition was funded by a five-year, $2.5 million grant under the new U.S. Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education Transition and Postsecondary Program for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSID). The Bridge Program is made possible through this grant and partnering with agencies and educational partners such as VESID and OPWDD, the Institute of Innovative Transition, Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES and Roberts Wesleyan College.
Program Highlights
- Focusing on students with intellectual disabilities 18-21 years old.
- Offers opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities 21+
- Students may enroll in the Spring, Summer or Fall Semester
- Successful completion of 6 semesters leads to a Certificate Awarded by Roberts Wesleyan College demonstrating students have met specific skill and academic competencies.
- Full Scholarships Available!

Academic Advisor, Educational Coaches, Peer Mentors, and Job Training and Transition Specialist to support students in all 3 areas – Earning, Learning, and Living, utilizing a Person-Centered Planning (PCP) Approach.
- 6 Semester Program to include at least one experience per semester
- 2 Social Experiences
- 2 Work Experiences*
- 2 Academic Experiences**
*Work experiences may include paid or non-paid internships
**Academic experiences may include audit or credit bearing classes
